Just chillin' here in the pasture, (seriously with 36" of snowfall last weekend, chill is an understatement) dreaming of springtime with this adorable spring layout by the always fabulous Pinky Hobbs. This layout also has a sneak peek of ways to use the new Purple Cows CraftGeek Wind It (coming soon to a store near you).

We love the Clearscraps acrylic base for this layout! Other great products used were from: imaginisce, Clearsnap, and GlueArts.

Hi all Michelle here from across the pond in Blighty with my little corner of the pasture for this week! So have you seen all the udderly cool new toys coming out of the ranch in April? The craft Geek range is about to hit and you can check it out in all its purple gorgeousness here.

I knew you would be gone a while once you clicked the link, excited? I know I am and I have been lucky enough to get to play with some of the new lovelies already. This ....

... is an ATC I have just made using the ‘punch it’, the ‘wind it’ and ‘roll it’ (such cool names!)

Using the dots ‘roll it’ ball I created a texture on the background of my ATC by rolling it round a colorbox ink pad and then rolling it around the card, and look you can even write with this beauty ... oh the possibilities!! The ball is so easily changed so you can use the other lovely patterns available.

Then moving onto the ‘punch it’ I created a complete pattern on a slightly lighter red coredinations card. I used the winter pattern; it is so easy to line up to create an infinite number of patterns.

I then cut out half a heart from my punched card and look you can create your own doyleys in whatever colour you want to create whatever shape you want!

This was followed by creating a smaller heart from white card and using the ‘roll it’ with the heart ball and some red colorbox ink to create some texture and then it was the turn of the ‘wind it’ to create a metal embellishment threaded with some red coral chips. Such a cool way to create metal embellishments for your work!

Adding some cosmo cricket tiny alphas finished of my ATC which is now destined as a topper for the front of my hubby’s valentines card but heh love is not just for the 14th of February right?!

Howdy Friends! Have you seen all the latest and greatest we have to offer here at Purple Cows? We gave a sneak peak of our new catalog last week, and we are all SO excited about all the AMAZING new tools we've rustled up for you to get crafty with! Today, I thought we could look at just 2 of these Udderly Fantastic tools.

First up, is the CraftGeek Punch It! This is the punch that 'beats all punches'! One punch = endless patterns! There are clearly marked paper & alignment guides on the base, so you can line the punch up perfectly every time, and every which way you choose to! There are 5 different Filigree Pattern punches available. The one used on this project is 'Winter' model #7201.

Next up, is the CraftGeek Pin It! Hold on to your hats girls, because you can use this Decorative Stapler, ANYWHERE on your page or project. That's right, anywhere! The top and bottom are separate pieces that align magnetically (and perfectly!) anywhere on your page. So now you can have a decorative staple, wherever you want it! With 5 different styled pins, you have plenty of design options available to you now! On this card, I used model #7002 'Winter Hearts' in Red.

Now, let's make a card!

1. Using your Purple Cow 2 in 1 Combo Trimmer model #1040, cut the card base 9" x 6 1/2". Here, I used Core'dinations Color Core cardstock Vintage Collection 'Pink Tutu'. Fold along the long edge so your card measures 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".

2. Use the CraftGeek Punch It! 'Winter' model #7201 and punch one 'corner' section on the top edge of the card, on both the left and right sides.

3. Trim a piece of Cosmo Cricket's 'Chemistry: Forget Me Not' (backside) 4 1/2" x 4 1/4". Staple a border of 'Winter Hearts' in Red along the top edge of this piece, using the CraftGeek Pin It! model #7000. Use fine-tip scissors and trim the border edge along the staple line, to enhance the decorative stapled border.

4. Ink the edges of this piece with Colorbox Cat's Eye Inks in Dark Brown. Run the Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro along both sides and bottom edge on the back of the trimmed piece, and adhere to the front of the card base, making a pocket.

5. Trim a Journaling Card from Cosmo Cricket's 'Chemistry' line, and cut around the edge. Ink with Colorbox Cat's Eye Inks in Warm Red. Place this inside the pocket on the front of the card.

6. Select 2 of the 'Button Fashions' from the 'Chemistry' line. Here, I used 2 of the shapes that have layers, and separated the layers. Using the thinner outer layer of 2 shapes, cut a small section from each piece, and adhere the ends back together with Glue Arts Extreme Micro Adhesive Squares. You should have 2 sections that are slightly curled up now. Adhere the larger one using the Micro Adhesive Squares, to the bottom right corner of your card front.

7. Using Helmar's Scrap Dots Adhesive, adhere the smaller curled edge just inside the larger one, off-setting the 'petal' edges. Knot a piece of Ivory Grosgrain ribbon through the button-holes on the center piece, and using your fingers curl up the edges of the petals for added dimension. Adhere this to the center using the Scrap Dots to really pop it out!

Howdy y'all! Hope the New Year (and the weather!) is treating you well.

Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I thought I'd show you a little card using lots of Purple Cows and Cow Partners products. I created a 5"x7" card using Purple Cows: 2 in 1 Trimmer, #1018 Long Wave Designer Blade, #1043 Score Blade, Cow Poke with Heart fasteners, Cow Punch, #4010 3"x5" Hot Pocket, #3025 Hot and Cold Laminator and Colored Wire. I also used Cow Partner products: Core'Dinations card stock (Glitter, WhiteWash and regular), Clear Snap Design Adhesives and Chalk, Bazzill Flowers and Leaves. I also used Martha Stewart Glitter, Doodlebug Glitter, and Ranger Stickles and Liquid Pearls.

Today I am thankful for my Purple Cows Laminator

and amazingly talented and generous artists like Chris Beaumont, originator of cubeecraft.com.

My son loves these crafts, and when we laminate them before cutting them out, they last a lot longer. Our trick is to use a ball point pen to score all the lines on the wrong side and a sharp craft knife to make any slits. We also use a little Helmar quick dry glue to hold things in place.

Hi all, Michelle here with a super little project for you using your Purple cows #3025 hot/cold laminator, kool pockets and #1040 2 in 1 combo trimmer.

This family photo cube started life as a box of dog food. Isn’t it amazing how the creative brain works?! I saw this box and thought ah ha, a bit of lamination and covering et voila a bespoke photo cube (and perfect Christmas gift!)

Purple Cows laminators are perfect for digital scrappers, work can be created and then protected in a whole host of ways, including on this photo cube. I scrapped some squares of photos digitally with embellishments and words and printed them off at the size of the box sides.

I then trimmed the images for the sides making them slightly smaller than the actual box measurements at this point to allow for the overlap of the lamination later, which is so easy with the 2 in 1 combo trimmer that gives an accurate cut every time whether on the guillotine or rotary side.

The panels were then put through my hot/cold laminator on a cold setting using kool pockets and this time trimmed to size with the purple cows guillotine (it cuts the lamination like butter!) to fit the box sides.

I trimmed panels of patterned paper using the accurate measurements on the 2 in 1 combo trimmer guillotine to cover the sides of the box and then added the laminated panels with Herma scrap dots and that’s it, a bespoke, wipe clean Family photo cube!

And what about something different for that someone that can never make a decision ..

... a decision cube.

Simple, fun and easy as well as re purposing something you would have probably thrown out!!

Howdy y'all! It's Vicki coming to you from the beautiful Texas Hill Country. It's still way too warm here in Central Texas, but I see from the news that snow is coming to parts of the Mid Western United States now. As November (really...already?!!) approaches those of us in the Northern Hemisphere say good bye to warmth, flowers, song birds....

So I thought I'd share a project that will bring bright cheery flowers to the indoors. I used only a few tools for this project: my Purple Cows Freestyle Mouse, 3 or 4 different Purple Cows Designer Blades, various circle punches and a paper piercer. Then I gathered a handfull of supplies: Cosmo Cricket patterned paper, buttons, copper wire, 5 inch styrofoam circle and my hot glue gun.

I punched out various sizes and pattterns of circles. I then folded each circle in half and in half again and again (three times in all). Then I rounded the edges of these folded pieces with my Freestyle Mouse, unfolded the "flowers", pierced a hole in the center, added a button strung with copper wire and attached the "flower" to my styrofoam circle with the wire and hot glue gun. This is the result:

I then took my bouquet and placed it in the top of a terra cotta pot to finish. This way as the cold winds of fall and winter begin to blow, the flowers die away and the trees become bare. I have something cheery inside to remind me of the days of spring and summer to come!

Hello Crafty Friends & Welcome to Designer Friday!
SInce it appears that Thanksgiving is sneaking right up on us, I thought I'd take a moment to share a favorite Thanksgiving Holiday Home Decor project!

This wreath was so easy to make with my favorite Purple Cows Smart Trimmer Model 1060, and the Freestyle Mouse Cutting Kit! Together with the Designer Collection Click Blades you'll have 12 fabulous edges to pick from to use for the leaves and flowers! How cool is that?

To begin with, I just cut a large circle from a piece of heavy cardboard. Cut a smaller inside circle and you have your wreath base. Wrap this with a fall-colored wire-edged ribbon. Your base is complete, and now you can embellish!
I chose Cosmo Cricket's Haunted collection to make my paper embellishments.

Using part of a journal card and some American Crafts thicker letters, I added the sentiment and placed it at the top of the wreath.

I finished it off using some black blingy flourishes I had on hand, and now it's ready to hang and help us celebrate the season for Giving Thanks, in style!

{I will post full how-to directions, with photos, on my blog this afternoon for a better look at how the flowers are made~}

Fire up your laminator and create this fabulously creative "fish tank" to showcase your favorite "merpeople." Michelle Jackson-Mogford designed this amazing project using the Purple Cows Hot and Cold Laminator and Hot Pockets to create a 3-D display.

Alcohol Inks are applied inside the Hot Pocket. After drying, pocket is laminated to creat this effect, then laminated pocket is cut to make the sea weed and fish.

When everything is layered together, you get a really cool effect!

This would be a fun project to do with your kids!

Supplies:

Step by Step:

Use the 2-in-1 Combo Trimmer to cut paper into a 4 3/4" x 9" strip. (or size it to your individual needs)
Score 3 1/2 from both ends.
Form treat holder into a triangle by sandwiching top of treat between ends of strip from step 1, staple in place.
Use cut outs from patterned paper, die cuts and/or punched shaped to decorate the treat holder

DIY Halloween Boo Banner

Are you ready for Halloween? Did you remember to hang up your Boo Banner? Haven't made one yet? Perfect. This simple and elegant banner can be made quickly and in a couple of hours it is ready for hanging up across your favorite door. I loved using my deco blade on the medallions, the details make this project stand out!

Here's what you will need.

Purple Cows 2 in 1 Trimmer

Short Wave Click Blade 1044

Bazzill black and purple

Clearsnap Smooch Spritz in orange

Helmar 450 Craft Glue

glitter glue

Tattered Angels Frames and Alphas

Martha Stewart Doily tags, glitter, embossing board

May Arts ribbon and ric rac

1. Measure and trim 3 rectangles with your guillotine on your Purple Cows 2 in 1 trimmer, 3" x 3.5".

2. With the rotary side of your 2 in 1 trimmer, use Click Blade #1044 and trim 3 strips of paper 1" x 12".

3. Use the embossing board to accordion fold the 3 long paper strips. Bring the opposite ends together and using your Helmar 450 glue, adhere your medallion to the center of a doily tag. Repeat for remainder 2 strips.

4. Spray each frame with orange Smooch spritz. Set aside to dry. Apply glitter glue to alphas, apply glitter and set aside to dry.

5. Hole Punch 2 holes at the top of each black rectangle and thread your ribbon through the holes of all 3 rectangles. Tie 4 inches of ribbon between each rectangle.

6. On each rectangle adhere an orange frame. Next apply the doily and medallion and last add on a glittered letter.

7. At the bottom of each rectangle add a length of orange ric rac and adhere wide white ric rac along the bottom on the back.

That's it! Just like that you have a fun little banner to cheer up your crafty nest!

Hello Purple Cows Nation! It's October and are you ready for Halloween? To be honest, if I lived in warmer climate, I could get excited about Halloween, but as it is, trick-or-treating with young children in 30 degree temperature is just not my idea of fun!

What I do think is fun is card making :) Here I have a couple of extremely simple cards using Imaginisce patterned papers, and Bazzill Basics cardstocks. And of course I used Purple Cows 2-in-1 combo trimmer, my go-to tool for every single project I do! The rotary part of this trimmer has many designer blades from which to choose from. I love the scoring blade to help me score my cards before I fold them!

Hi everyone, Kryssi here for Designer Friday!

I know everyone is in the Fall/Harvest/Halloween mood right now, but not me. Never me. I mentally skip it every year because I am just oh so excited about the holiday season! And when it comes to creating, it couldn't be more true!

Every year I get a head start on my Christmas cards, and this year is no different. I created this card a couple of days ago. Before it's completion, I kept scratching my head and wondered what was missing... I decided to truncate the bottom and add the decorative edge to the white mat and it is now perfect!

I don't know about you, but decorative scissors and me just don't get along! Give it a try, Purple Cows' designer click blades (2812 used here) makes it so easy to add a unique touch to a card with just one quick swipe!

Hi all tis me MJM or Michelle Jackson-Mogford but do you know what? that was too long a name for the title LOL!! I'm here to share some purple goodness with you on this lovely day!

I've recently been proud and honoured to have been presenting Purple Cows tools on some craft shows on TV here in England. I've been busy beavering away making samples for these shows and one of my fave raves at the moment are these..

Laminated bags! Oh they are so super easy with the Purple Cows Hot/Cold laminator and my trusty Purple Cows 2 in 1 trimmer!

Of course the beauty of the Purple Cows Hot pockets that go alongside the laminator is that they come in all the crafting sizes and the 12 x 12 Hot pockets are perfect for using your scrapbook papers in a different way! These DeLovely Cosmo Cricket papers are just that and I think they deserve to be shown off, what better way than as a bag! The pockets on the front are made from the 6'' x 4'' Kool pockets, super strong (held on there with Helmars glue of course!) and the perfect size for my bag (they also enabled me to get more of that paper on display :))

The front and back are 12 x 12 hot pockets, filled with the paper and the side and base are 3 3''x 12'' strips of paper put into 2 12 x 12 hot pockets and then trimmed into strips with the fabulous Purple cows guillotine. The whole thing is then put together with eyelets (I used a crop-a-dile), a bit of ribbon attached for the handles and then you're good to go! The lamination with the Purple Cows laminator and Hot pockets is super strong and believe me these bags are sturdy!

So then I was playing with some digi scrapping ....

How cool! a completely unique beach bag with my own photo on it!!

and then go small with the 8 x 8 Hot pockets and an 8'' x 8'' digi scrap page. Don't you think these would make great gift bags??

As an avid seamstress I am often asked
if Purple Cows can do anything for the quilter

I love stitching on my layout and using fabric on my
layouts, as well as sewing daily.Here I used my Purple Cows 1040 Trimmer
with fabric swatches, and cut them into strips
with my Purple Cows Click Straight Blade #2801

I also used my Helmar 450 Quick Dry Glue to
adhere fabric to the chipboard and onto the layout.

Quite often I use my freestyle mouse for cutting fabric
into quilt blocks or ruffles for aprons and more.

A Clearly Unique Travel Album

Summertime is often vacation time and with vacations and holidays come lots of photo memories that are just begging to be displayed! Robin Gibson, one of our amazing design team, was looking for a unique way to showcase some gorgeous photos from her recent trip abroad. Using her Purple Cows Laminator, she came up with this fabulous twist on a traditional mini album!

"It's a paperless mini-album. Here's an easy way to let your vacation pictures take the spotlight! Make laminated photo-pages, frame the pictures with some beads, and clip your pages together for a super easy, super fun mini album."

Designer Friday on Monday! -- Robin's Quickie Notecard

Hey Cowgirls~ I thought I'd make it simple today and show you how to whip up a quickie notecard or 2 with your trusty Purple Cows #1040 2 in 1 Combo Trimmer! My FAVORITE trimmer, for sure! I use it every day, and it gives me quick, clean cuts every time. I think my favorite thing though, is to use the Decorative-edged Click Blades with the rotary side.

To make these cards, I used Decorative-edged Click Blades #2810 Colonial and #2812 Stamp Cut:

1. Using the pre-marked measurements on the trimmer, cut a piece of cardstock (I used scraps!) to 6"x3", with Decorative-edged blade of your choice.

2. Ink the edges with Colorbox Cat's Eye Inks, if desired. I like doing this to bring attention to the decorative edge!

3. Fold the card in half (alternatively, you can use your scoring blade #2811) so now your card is 3"x3".

4. Embellish with ribbons, buttons, flowers, a monogram initial maybe~ the sky's the limit. And Presto, you have a cute, quick notecard. I like to make them in packs of 6 and give to friends.

In July, Purple Cows is sponsoring a challenge / inspiration site called the Color Room.

The Color Room finds its palette inspiration from magazines, TV, internt. From an inspirational image the colors are drawn from it using Photoshop. To ensure that all people participating are catered for, there are four primary rooms: Her Room, His Room, Sun Room and Family Room. Each of these rooms has a different palette emphasis, from the pretty girly palettes of Her Room to bright and bold palettes from the Sun Room. RGB Numbers of the colors used are provided so those digital scrappers can re-create the exact same colours. Lydell Quin draws the sketches in photoshop with the aid of her Wacom Tablet. She has been sketching layout ideas for years now, often being inspired to sketch after seeing appealing advertisement’s and webpage designs.

Happy Friday, it's Samantha posting today.

I use my Purple Cows 2 in 1 Trimmer every single day. The guillotine blade cuts as cleanly as it did the day I took it out of the box. So for this card I wanted to use one of my Purple Cows products that is one of my essential tools, but I don't use it every single crafting moment, it's my Freestyle Mouse. I love the way that it easily slices through chipboard, cardstock and acrylic overlays. I have also discovered that it can cut through fabric like a dream.

1)I started by laying my fabric flat on a cutting mat and with my deco blade #2812, I cut three strips of fabric of various widths.

2)I ran a running stitch through each fabric strip near the bottom, pulled the stitch so it would gather and sewed the 2 ends together forming a small flower.

3)Finish each flower with a button or brad in the center.

4) Assemble the card with coordinating papers and decorative chipboard. I used the rotary side of my 2 in 1 trimmer to cut a decorative edge on my polka dot paper.

5) Adhere the fabric flowers with Helmar 450 glue.
